Orson Welles, what a great performance. Also, Natalie Wood gave a stunning performance. Sorry, but I am not a Claudette Colbert fan. I am sure everyone will get annoyed at my comments about my impression of her acting performance, but her face lacks expression. Also, excellent storyline and dialogue.

They shouldn’t have had Natalie attempt an accent. It was too distracting. Aside from that, she was normally a fine child actress whose performances I enjoyed.

Casanova Brown (1944) 6.2 In this hilarious romantic comedy, Gary Cooper gets a lesson in diapers and formula after stealing his child from his ex-wife (Teresa Wright), who was planning to give her up for adoption.

In 1941 The US and Chinese were allies. Can't we all just be friends and not pick movies apart. 😊 Marxists behave lol

In the beginning of the movie when claudette's reminiscing about the past about 8 minutes in Orson walks out with his army suit on and you can tell they're done everything from corsets to girdles to keep him packed LOL

What a darling little movie!! Gary Cooper....seriously, these young men today just don't hold a candle to the beauty of this man. Young Randolph Scott, Cary Grant, men then had an elegance and a sophistication I've only seen in maybe George Clooney. I'm a woman of a "certain age" and I sorely miss it.

Thanks for posting this, I never knew of it! This is intense like her great movies Cause For Alarm, and The Accused. Loretta always delivered, I love her in Key To The City w/Clark Gable, Along Came Jones w/Gary Cooper, Rachel and the Stranger w/William Holden & Robert Mitchum, Half-Angel w/Joseph Cotton and paired again in The Farmer's Daughter, and Mother Is A Freshman w/Van Johnson. Kent Smith was good in Nora Prentiss w/ Ann Sheridan, One For The Book w/ Eleanor Parker, and in The Bad Seed! Alexander Knox, good in The Sea Wolf w/Edward G.Robinson, Ida Lupino, John Garfield, Barry Fitzgerald, & Gene Lockhart.

Well done! Gene hit her high in her acting abilities, she did grand is beautiful and truly a seduction on screen ! Set design on the gambling pit was amazing! Costumes designs out of this world beautiful! This movie is all pro! Capes need to come back into style! 😉

1:08:00 you see, this is what happens when the entrepreneur marries a roadblock. the roadblock being the type of character who wants stability over risk. the man pitched a subscription idea and he has the secret recipes for success: enthusiasm and raw unbridled belief. anybody versed in "manifestation" or reads BOOKS on making money (that were available even at that time) knows that's all he needs. and here is this woman who literally snuffs his enthusiasm out, begs him to settle for less, settle for a paycheck. making him think he has "bad luck" (now feeling foolish about his standardly brilliant idea... i mean, its literally a sub for value info, its a working business model to this day) oh ok so i see she didnt break him down. good for him!

"Portrait of Jennie 1948" has to be one of the most endearing stories of inspiration and romance between a canvas painter on hard times in 1930s New York, and a girl, Jennie Appleton, from a bygone age (1910s), who blossoms into woman seemingly within months, and mysteriously comes and goes. She meets her end at a lighthouse, The Land's End Light, at Cape Cod, where a freak wave washes her into the sea. But the painter, Eben Adams, is left with her beautiful portrait which adorns a museum and is highly esteemed in the art community. The film is hauntingly beautiful and has to be a work of love and art. You must see it!
